Azerbaijan’s first shipbuilding yard

Baku: Caspian Shipping Company (CSC) is moving ahead with plans to build Azerbaijan’s first shipbuilding base, having secured a 20ha site in the capital Baku’s Garadagh District. The new facility will be formed by the merger of four existing shiprepair yards belonging to CSC, all situated in the Bay of Baku. It is planned to start by building tankers with displacement of at least 13,000tonnes; the production will be aimed not only for the domestic markets but also at Kazakhstan and Iran.  [05/07/06]
