AP Moller-Maersk to axe 250 jobs at Odense yard

Copenhagen: Another European yard has struggled in the face of rampant Asian expansion. Denmark’s leading shipyard Odense, part of  the A.P. Moller-Maersk group, has been forced to cut up to 250 staff to save money in the face of stiff competition from East Asia. "In order to strengthen possibilities of survival in the long term ... it is necessary that the yard's expenses be markedly reduced," it said on Wednesday.  [05/06/08]
