DSME bags Greek ropax order

Seoul: South Korean builder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) announced on June 30 that it has received an order from Greek owner Attica Group for the construction of two ropaxes (passenger/cargo ferries) for delivery in the first quarter of 2012. Total contract price is given as about $200 million, or about $100 million apiece. The order marked the year's second newbuilding order for DSME following the first, which was for a launching barge. This follows last week’s other rare Korean shipbuilding bit of news when STX Offshore and Shipbuilding snares a $340m order for eight tankers.  [30/06/09]
