Singapore: China-based Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has secured shipbuilding contracts of seven vessels with an aggregate contract value of $206.2m since the beginning of 2012 to-date.
The Singapore-listed shipbuilder announced on Monday that the new contracts comprise of four units of 82,000 dwt bulk carriers, two 95,000 dwt bulkers and one 47,500 dwt bulker. The vessels are scheduled for deliveries from 2013 to 2015.
For the year 2011, Yangzijiang had in total secured 21 shipbuilding contracts with an aggregate value of $1.21bn.
The Chinese firm is aiming to expand its shipbuilding capacity to 7.29m dwt by 2013 at its four yards, up from the present 2.5m dwt.
